For Improvement of Manhattan-Monee Road near Monee, IL
The Will County Division of Transportation (WCDOT) will hold a public hearing concerning the preferred improvement of Manhattan-Monee Road from Center Road to the Village of Monee western limit. The public hearing will be held at Peotone Intermediate Center, 9526 West Manhattan-Monee Road, Frankfort, IL on December 19, 2024, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
This project may secure federal funds; therefore, this public hearing is being held in compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) requirements and IDOT’s public involvement policy. This proposed project will require construction in a floodplain. Pursuant to EO 11988, as amended by EO 13690, public review and comment on this proposal and its alternatives are hereby requested.
The meeting will be conducted on an informal basis, no formal presentation, with project displays to present topics such as the need for the project, the design alternatives considered, right-of-way acquisition, and the tentative construction schedule. Preliminary reports, including environmental documents and an engineering analysis with drawings, maps, and aerial photography, will be available for inspection and viewing during the entire meeting. WCDOT and their consultant team will answer individual questions and record comments offered by those in attendance. Verbatim comments will be recorded. The same material will be available for review and inspection on the project website beginning December 19, 2024.
All interested parties are encouraged to attend and participate in providing input, comments, and questions on the project. Written statements will be received at the time of the meeting or can be mailed after the meeting to Christina Kupkowski, Phase I Project Manager, 16841 W. Laraway Road, Joliet, IL 60433. Comments and questions to be part of this meeting’s record must be received by WCDOT on or before January 15, 2025, by 4 pm.
All people interested in this project are invited to attend this meeting. In compliance with the American with Disabilities Act and other Federal and State Laws, the public meeting will be accessible to those with disabilities. A public information meeting was held on November 4, 2021, at the Green Garden County Club. The meeting was an open house format, no formal presentation, to introduce the project and describe the study process. The public was able to review the existing conditions and alternatives being studied, and to provide feedback.
